Nictiz organised the Digital Access Festival together with the Dutch Ministry of Health: 250 care providers, suppliers and others involved, at DeFabrique in Utrecht, on how to prepare for safe digital access in healthcare.
They did not open with a speaker on stage. Minister Ernst Kuipers appeared life-size in our Holobox, in Nictiz's own words: logged in to the future of digital care. Exactly the subject of the day, made visible straight away instead of explained.
Afterwards, chair Sabine Uitslag took over and the festival continued with plenary contributions, an expert and supplier area and a cybersecurity escape room.
For an opening like this nobody has to travel: the speaker stays where they are and appears at true size in the room. That saves diaries, travel time and emissions, and it creates a moment visitors are still talking about afterwards.
